Did you know...

YMCA's collectively serve 18.9 million active members in the United States.

It is estimated that YMCA's serve approximately 40 million people worldwide each year!!

Since 1982, the Mattoon Area Family YMCA has been proudly Building Strong Kids, Strong Families and Strong Communities in Mattoon, Charleston, and the surrounding areas. Our youth programs and activities are designed for learning skills, but the focus will always be on assuring that programs feature the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Our adult programs are designed for fun and fellowship, but always play with a philosophy of:

"Athletes first - Winning second".

As a YMCA member, you have access to:

  • Our renovated Fitness Center, multiple programs, services and facilities during our expanded business hours, seven days per week.
  • Many land and water fitness classes, and adult leagues are free to members.
  • An opportunity to develop leadership skills and to give back to your community by participating as a program and special events volunteer.

At the YMCA, no one is ever turned away because of demonstrated inability to pay. The YMCA has a scholarship program in place for individuals and families with financial challenges. *See below.

                                              Deployed Military Personnel

YMCA of the USA, the Armed Services YMCA, and the Department of Defense have joined forces in a new intiative to address the needs of families of deployed military personnel, living far from a military installation, that require access to child development, family strengthening, and health and well-being programming.

The Armed Services YMCA and the Department of Defense Outreach Initiative provides government funding for families to receive memberships at full-facility YMCAs in their communities.

The Mattoon Area Family YMCA has registered to participate in this Outreach Initiative.  Interested families must meet eligibility requirements to participate in the FREE membership courtesy of Military OneSource.

Contact Vicki Cline, Membership Director, for more information.
